As the facts about Ashlee Simpson being pregnant or not are being released it seems Ashlee may not be pregnant after all. According to Pete Wentz "This is all news to me" and "This is a witch-hunt...". Here are two news stories about Ashlee, Pete, and whether they're having a baby.

NOTHING IN OVEN ... YET: Sounds like Ashlee Simpson's spokeswoman should have checked with the singer's rocker fiance before making a comment Monday that many took as a hint Simpson was pregnant.

When asked about several online reports, the publicist said, ''We are thrilled to confirm their engagement and congratulate this happy couple. Beyond that, there is nothing to add.'' That kind of phraseology is Hollywood spokesman-speak for dodging something they know to be true but don't want to confirm.

When Wilmette's own Pete Wentz heard about all the hoopla, he quickly e-mailed MTV to deny he's a daddy-in-waiting. Showcasing his well-known sense of humor, the Fall Out Boy bassist wrote, ''This is all news to me. I can't wait for the story about how I'm really in a gay relationship, and this is all just a cover. ... We're engaged, that's true, and happy about it.''

But the musician made it clear Simpson is not expecting.

So is Ashlee Simpson pregnant?

A source confirmed to usmagazine.com and OK! magazine's Web site that that the singer, 23, is expecting her first child with fiance Pete Wentz, 28.

Simpson and the Fall Out Boy frontman announced their engagement Wednesday.

But if you ask Wentz, there's nothing to the rumors. "There is a witch hunt for people to be pregnant whenever they get engaged in Hollywood," he wrote in an e-mail to MTV News. "This is all news to me. ... I mean really, this is crazy. ... I mean we're engaged, that's true, and happy about it."

A spokeswoman for the couple told Us, "We are thrilled to confirm their engagement and congratulate this happy couple. Beyond that there is nothing to say."

OK! and Us Weekly both cited unnamed sources close to the couple in their stories. OK!, which reports that the baby is due in October, offered as "proof" an account of Simpson dealing with a "fierce bout of what appeared to be morning sickness" during a lunch at Malibu's Chart House restaurant.
