I wasn't going to post this story because it's pretty negative. But then I realized it's a great chance to stick up for Ashlee.

She's being criticized for saying that we should love ourselves as we are and then she went and had a nose job.

So?

Newflash gang! It's ok to "love yourself as you are" and still want to improve ourselves. For example on April 1st of this year I was overweight. But since then I have lost 30 pounds! Did I "love myself as I was" when I was 30 pounds heavier? Of course I did. Do I "love myself now as I am", 30 pounds lighter? Yeah I do.

If you agree with me and think it's ok to "love yourself as you are" one day and do something to improve your appearance the next and want to defend Ashlee, leave a comment for this story. Let's show Ashlee that we support her decision (even if you liked her nose better before).

Pop singer Ashlee Simpson has come under fire for having a nose job after appearing in a special 'body image' issue of a US magazine.

The 21-year-old blonde star was chosen as the cover girl for the July issue of Marie Claire, to emphasise how important it was for women to love their own bodies.

But by the time the magazine hit news-stands, Ashlee looked very different after having cosmetic surgery and long blonde hair extensions.

Marie Claire received more than 1,000 angry letters of complaint from readers, and even editor Joanna Coles waded into the debate.

"She was quoting chapter and verse about how crucial it is to love yourself as you are, etc," Coles wrote in the September issue.

"We're dazed and confused - and disappointed."

Ashlee had helped a group of under-privileged girls to paint a mural that celebrated the female figure.

The singer told the magazine at the time: "Everyone is made differently, and that's what makes us beautiful and unique. I want girls to look in the mirror and feel confident."

But when readers saw her with a new nose just a few weeks later, they were shocked. "You couldn't have picked a worse role model!" fumed a reader from Toronto.

Another reader from Denver wrote: "I realise you can't control what your cover models do after the interview and photo shoot, but still!"

Ashlee got cosmetic surgery and has since been paying lip service to the idea of being happy with who you are. All the while, she's chasing superficial beauty. It's even sillier because she didn't need to. She looked so beautiful before, and now she looks like a barbie doll. She's less unique looking, thats for sure.    The editors of the magazine and everyone else are absolutely right to call out Ashlee on her hypocrisy. I love the girl, but I find the nose job and her comments since (especially her refusal to admit she had it done) very dissapointing. Grow up Ashlee.
